Some Wisdom from Mr Ohno

I was thinking about this the other day…

Ohno Satoshi doesn’t seem to be very good at expressing himself. Ironic, considering his career choice. But it makes sense because he seems to be the kind of person who just gets pulled along and is able to succeed, even when he’s thinking, “what the hell am I doing?” He doesn’t speak that often, or waste his words, so when he does choose to say something, it takes me awhile some times to get what he means.

I was watching an interview segment with Arashi on some news show that went behind the scenes of Shiyagare (one of their regular shows on which this man was a guest). Really it was just a short interview in which he asked Ohno to rate everyone according to how cheap they are. After that, he mentions that when he asked everyone, “what does Arashi mean to you” they gave answers like “family” or “friends” but Ohno didn’t.

In fact, he said that they weren’t any of these.

Those of us who are idol fans are no stranger to that moment. You know, that embarrassing moment where something unexpectedly makes you… I believe the polite term is ‘ドキドキ’?

It’s like what happen(s)ed to me when I watch the Face Down pv (that post is still on the way…I don’t care that the song is old now). Well, I’ve pretty much gotten used to that. It happens, you know. It’s all part of the beauty of fandom.

The thing is, my mom is not used to it. She’s rather an old fashioned sort. So when it happens to her…frankly, it’s too hilarious not to document.

In which the fanfic writes itself

Confession time: (I’m somewhat humiliated, but) I read Arashi fanfiction. Some of it is such fangurl mush that it’s hilarious (or extremely satisfying) and some of it is interesting exploration of the boys – how they deal with the group, their thoughts about each other, their struggles, all that good stuff. By now, I’m sure most Himitsu no Arashi followers have seen the Sakuraiba date that was aired this summer. I watched it during a quiet morning, right before work and it was probably one of the best episodes I’d ever seen. For many reasons, not the least of which is that Sho and Aiba are one of my OTPs.
